What is Measure B? 🗳️
Measure B is on the ballot for Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln voters this November. It's a proposed 30-year, half-cent sales tax aimed at raising $1.58 billion for road and highway improvements to help ease congestion. By creating a "local match" funding source, it would allow the region to tap into state and federal transportation funds. Projects include widening State Route 65, improving the I-80 and SR 65 interchange, and creating Placer Parkway to connect highways 65 and 99. For more details on these plans, check out the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency website.
Communiversity 🎒
Big news, Placer County! Sacramento State and Sierra College are teaming up to create a “communiversity” (yep, that’s a word now). It’s all part of their plan to build a new campus right in our backyard. The idea? Seamless learning, where students don’t know if they’re on a university or community college campus—because it doesn’t matter. Think of it as academic fusion cuisine. With classes starting as early as next spring at Sierra College’s Rocklin campus, the project’s first phase opens in 2028. Expect classrooms, a forensic lab, maybe even some student housing. Placer students won’t have to travel far for a top-notch education. They’ll have it right here. ($)

DID YOU KNOW❓️
Hippos can’t swim. Hippos really do have big bones, so big and dense, in fact, that they’re barely buoyant at all. They don’t swim and instead perform a slow-motion gallop on the riverbed or on the sea floor. In fact, hippos can even sleep underwater, thanks to a built-in reflex that allows them to bob up, take a breath, and sink back down without waking.
