THE BUZZ 🐝

LL Flooring Roseville Closing 🔒️

After more than 30 years, LL Flooring (formerly Lumber Liquidators) is closing its doors. Following a failed attempt to find a buyer after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the company has announced it will begin closing all its stores. The hardwood retailer started the process last week and has closing sales kicking off at hundreds of locations. In a heartfelt note to customers, CEO Charles Tyson acknowledged, “This is not the outcome any of us had hoped for.” The company is working to wind down operations as smoothly as possible to reduce the impact on employees and customers. With a legacy that stretches back to 1993, it’s a tough end for the brand, but Tyson assures customers that LL Flooring is committed to making the transition as painless as possible during this difficult time.

Football Season Cancelled 🏈

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy has made the tough call to cancel the rest of its football season due to low participation, head coach Juan Cueva confirmed. With only 13 players cleared to play, it simply wasn’t safe to field a team. Despite the disappointment, Coach Cueva praised his players for their dedication and hard work over the summer. "We fought, scratched, and did everything we could," Cueva shared, adding that this resilient group brought them further than they imagined. Though heartbreaking, the Wolves plan to come back stronger next year. Football dreams are only paused, not gone.

DXK Big + Tall 👕

Attention all big and tall gentlemen! DXL Big + Tall is opening its second area store at Roseville’s Creekside Town Center, focusing on men's apparel, suits, and shoes for larger sizes. With one store already at Howe Bout Arden, this new 4,800-square-foot spot will be right next to Ulta and Best Buy. Remodeling plans are in, and if all goes smoothly, you can expect the grand opening in mid-2025. Whether you need a sharp suit or some stylish shoes, DXL’s got you covered. Bonus: it’s just across from the Westfield Galleria, so plenty of shopping and food nearby. Gents, prepare to suit up! ($)

DID YOU KNOW❓️

Yawning hippo

The fear of long words is called Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. The 36 letter word was first used by the Roman poet Horace in the first century BCE to criticize those writers with an unreasonable penchant for long words. It was American poet Aimee Nezheukumatathil, possibly afraid of their own surname, who coined the term how we know it in 2000.
